This weekend will be one of the biggest moments in the girls basketball life. I see most all of the area talent will be playing in the Elite Classic good luck
to them all and I hope the scouts will take notice.

I agree, good luck to all of the girls and thanks to the elite for giving all of us this opportunity. I will be there and I encourage all parents and friends to please go and support not just your team but all the girls. btw (close your eyes basics) the warriors somehow got into the signature bracket at the deep south classic he is really throwing them to the wolves I hope they survive it. |

I read on line that the Warriors finished 2-3 and finished in 15th place in the signature bracket of the Deep South Classic. The AZ Silver Streaks finished 2-1
in the the top bracket of the Boo Williams tournament. I am glad to see that AZ teams are doing well in other big time tournaments. How did our AZ teams do in
the Elite tournament?

Arizona Swish Update | ||
|
AZ Swish-Black went 4-1 at the Nike California Classic hosted by Cal Swish. Only loss was to Cal Swish-Black in the Championship Game of the top division.
AZ Swish-White (Jr Hi) went 4-1 at the same event in the Silver Division. Only loss was to Cal Swish 17-White in the Championship game. Great weekend of basketball. Both teams represented the state of AZ extremely well! Congrats! |

I'm not quite sure why the Streaks think they played in the top division at Boo Williams. The top division was the Newport News. Newport division played
all of their games at the Boo Williams Complex. This division also guaranteed a playoff for the top 3 teams (out of 4) in pool play. Silver Streaks were
done Saturday night with only one loss. Why would you spend all that time and money to play one game in the Boo Complex? You could have stayed right here in
Phoenix for free.

there's a difference between a genuine fan of youth basketball and someone who just likes to stir things up. how many usernames have you got going at the

None of the above posters are me. I have decided back off and let you guys go without supervision.

it's not that some individuals choose to post, it's that they're obviously knowledgeable (I have no problem stating that they seem to know more
about the game than me) but that they choose to piss people off rather than inform or advance a conversation.

I think the problem in Arizona is reality. If I slap you guys in the face enough times maybe you will wake up. Shiela's comment is an example of someone being fed up with the bs. Encouraging our kids is one thing but leading them on is another. Every club program in Arizona should be taking a long look at what the KnightWarriors are doing and apply it to their program. |

Well I don't know who is on the Swish Black but they probably will never qualify to be in the same bracket as the mighty KnightWarriors so it really
doesn't matter. At least you guys are starting to get it, forget about competing with the KnightWarriors during the high school season and try to make a
super club team to try and qualify against them in a club tourney.

You know Basics the Arizona's Finest placed just as high or higher as your "KnightWarriors" last year in the Signature bracket of the Deep South
Classic going 3-3. The luster from the AAU nationals won as grade schoolers is worn off.
So hopefully an Arizona team like Swish-Black or White, Thunder-Donahue / Spurlock, AZ Elite-Drake / McCollum, Streaks or Rebels etc. will be seeing you in Oregon or where ever it is you are playing...... I can not speak for everyone but all this talk/hype is due for a mini 8 to 12 team event locally. I know the Finest & Swish would play among others.....Challenge is out there if the "KnightWarriors" would like the comp. I am sure all the top teams would be down for something like that. Thoughts?

why they do what they do | ||

blacktop, it should be noted that Coach Ekmark himself never, ever hypes his own team. But, with all the noise created by a certain avid poster under a variety
of screen names, it's understandable that you, like Thunder Bob and others before you, would like to play his team. In my own uninformed opinion, youth
basketball is one part skill, one part conditioning, one part mindset/focus/mystique. My guess is Coach Ekmark is holding that third card close to his vest for
as long as he can. We've all seen how an underdog squad can close the gap against a highly favored team in fairly short order -- over the course of three
or four games. The first contest is a 24-point loss. Second game might even be an 18-point loss. Then comes the third game -- and all of a sudden the
difference is 8 to 10 points. Fourth game happens to come in the semifinals of a tournament and now the cushion is just 2 points with the teams playing again
the very same day in the final. Let's face it, if you're the coach and you have a choice, you want your team to have a little mystique. You do want
them focused so they don't take a possession off. All that is much easier when you haven't played the opposing team 10 or 12 times previously.

Note taken Step. I have the utmost respect for Curtis and his efforts to date, but I am all about competition. I really feel Curtis would not back down from
anyone challenging his team, but I do not know this for sure.
All I am saying is that the very best teams in the area should get together at least once a year in a 8 to 12 team bracket format with the winners moving right by winning. Three to four games min/max gtd. No team would play each other more than once...... OR Swish-Black & White / Warriors / Thunder-Donahue & Spurlock / Elite-Drake or McCollum / Finest-Diamonds / AZ Rebels / Streaks / Sting / Hype or some combination come together for a set of games if nothing else than to help each other prepare for national events in July......Girls Basketball should take the model laid out on the boys side best displayed by Ron Coleman and the Southwest Showcase series of events......

Basics - I really do wish you would stop posting. I think we all agree on this.
With that said, the point that is amazing to me is that this is a team of 13 year olds competing in the highest division of a top national tournament and finishing 15th. I've never seen them play but to me, this is crazy. Are they picking up kids from other states? |
